Possibilities very experienced, highly qualified and professionally registered psychotherapists (UKCP registered) have helped thousands of parents.

Please note: we provide a professional service. We do notuse volunteer and/or non-qualified, non-registered counsellors.

You may or may not have any major issues with parenting and would just like to learn more effective parenting skills and child management techniques that suit your child or children and the kind of relationship(s) you would like to develop.

You may be a single parent requiring some extra support and ideas or you may be two parents who would like to learn how to co-ordinate your parenting styles and become better parents together.

With parenting counselling, we can help you strengthen relationships with your children to better prepare for future parenting challenges and relationship issues.

As parents, it's impossible to get it right all of the time and with each child, we tend to try what we think will work and then learn from our mistakes.  This works most of the time but sometimes it doesn't.........

Also, some children are much more challenging to parent than others and despite our best efforts and advice from family and friends, we can find ourselves 'flummoxed' and uncertain about how best to improve the situation.  This is when parenting wisely and parenting counselling in Aberdeen might help.

"Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors." African Proverb.

The research is showing that strengthening relationships between parents and their children creates more resilience and a more secure base from which they can better manage any emerging problems.

Depending on the nature of the difficulty, it can be helpful to meet you together with your child or young person.  Sometimes there are 'attachment' issues and we find that 'attachment family therapy' can be very helpful. (For more information, please see: Family Therapy.)

Occasionally after such meetings, if the child's problems are quite severe, we might suggest that your child or young person has a session of individual time with us to address their issues and gain their perspective.  (Please see: Children's Counselling and also Counselling Teenagers and Young People.)  Ultimately, what you decide to do is completely your choice.

In itself, for most of us, parenting is quite challenging and so easily made much more difficult by the adverse affects of a range and combination of other expected and unexpected factors in our lives.

"Insanity is hereditary. You can get it from your children." Sam Levinson

Whatever your situation, we are very happy to discuss and explore the best options for you and to help in whatever ways you think would most suit you.
