'Our Psychotherapists are specialists in you'.

However, you may not be experiencing any major difficulties and would just like help to improve your life and build a better future.

No problem is too small.  If it is bothering you, it is relevant.

"What is to give light must first endure burning." Viktor Frankl

Are psychotherapists qualified?

All of our psychotherapists are very experienced, highly qualified and professionally registered (UKCP registered).  They will provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential setting where you can discuss your concerns and explore ways forward.

Please note: we provide a professional service. We do not use volunteer and/or non-qualified, non-registered counsellors.

Most of us will experience times when we struggle to cope, despite support and advice from our family and friends.  Sometimes we may be coping reasonably well with our day to day life but require psychotherapy to help progress things in a desired direction.

If your difficulties have persisted and you are feeling stuck and/or unsure and would like to make some changes, psychotherapy can be very helpful.

On the other hand, you might not be ready to make any changes and would prefer just to gain a better understanding of your situation.

Instead of struggling on for weeks, months or even years, additional help in the form of psychotherapy at Possibilities Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre Aberdeen is worth considering.

We can help you manage a wide range of issues and problems.

In our experience, even a small change can often begin to make a significant difference.

"The truth is rarely pure and never simple." Oscar Wilde

How Psychotherapy Helps?

In terms of how we work at Possibilities Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre, rather than a ‘one size fits all’ therapeutic approach, we try to find helpful ways of working that fit best for each person.

Are you experiencing issues in your relationship with yourself, with others and adjusting to life? If so, this often results in emotional distress which can show itself through depression, anxiety, stress and unhappiness.

Are you struggling with a sense of not living as well as you would like and feeling trapped in a life which isn't the life you want to be living? Psychotherapy can help you make more sense of what is happening. It offers an opportunity for guided exploration through which we help you create and cultivate new options, going beyond the expected; helping you find new possibilities and solutions.

"Think of everything that you experienced in the past as preparatory building blocks for your future journey and task." Arthur Zajonx, Physicist.... For the emerging you.

We will help you build on your strengths and resources as a foundation for the changes you would like to make.

Each specialist therapeutic package is very unique and tailored to your specific needs.

How long do meetings last?

Appointments usually last for 50 minutes.  With advanced agreement, longer meetings can be scheduled.  The fee is also agreed in advance.  Payment is made at then end of each meeting by cheque or cash.

What happens at the end of an initial consultation meeting?

At the end of the first consultation meeting, we will have a better idea if further meetings are required.  The number of meetings required can vary depending on your aims and the complexity and nature of your difficulty.

Usually, people agree to a short course of therapy which involves an intitial set of four to six meetings.  Sometimes only one, two or three meetings are needed.  At other times, the number of meetings may need to be more.  The number of times you attend is entirely up to you.

If you're not sure what the problem is and are uncertain about what might help, please arrange an initial consultation appointment in which we can help you clarify the issues and explore the options.
