Do you need advice and support regarding parenting, our counsellors are here to help
As parents, it’s impossible to get it right all of the time.
Some children are much more challenging to parent than others and, despite our best efforts and advice from family and friends, we can find ourselves confused and uncertain about how to improve the situation.
That’s where Possibilities’ counselling for parents can help. Our counsellors and psychotherapists can help provide you with the expert knowledge, skills and support you need.
Benefits of counselling for parents
Learn more effective parenting skills, better manage child behaviour difficulties and teenage problems, emotional attachments and relationship issues for the benefit of your child, your parent-child relationship and your well-being.
You may be a single parent requiring some extra support and ideas, or you may be two parents who would like to learn how to coordinate your parenting styles and become better parents together.
With parenting counselling, we can help you strengthen your relationship with your children.
Parenting Counselling and Attachment
Research shows that strengthening relationships between parents and their children creates more resilience overall, as well as a more secure base from which both can better manage future challenges.
Sometimes because of life events, and perhaps your own challenging childhood experiences of being parented, your bond or attachment with your child may have been injured and you may require specialist help to repair and heal it.
Depending on the nature of the difficulty, it can sometimes be helpful to meet you together with your child or young person.
We appreciate that parenting is challenging for many people and can be made much more difficult by expected or unexpected factors in our lives. Whatever, your situation, we are not here to judge you in any way, we are very happy to meet with you to discuss and explore the best options.
Allow us to reassure you that professional help is at hand. We offer services that aim to reduce the fear and uncertainty about getting help. Arrange an initial consultation ‘taster’ session to discuss your needs, in privacy and comfort, to obtain a sense of how we help and for if this is the right direction for you.
And the day came when the risk (it took) to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
What our previous clients have said
I experienced severe trauma and developed a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which meant I wasn’t coping well with day to day life. With CBT Therapy at Possibilities, I’ve made a number of positive changes. It was a struggle at times but my psychotherapist helped me feel safe and capable as we worked through things. I’m now back at work and my confidence is growing. I have a life again. I’m so glad I took that scary first step and called. If you’re feeling unsure, I highly recommend you call them too.

I thought my life wasn’t worth living. My depression convinced me I was worthless and useless and my situation was hopeless. If you’re feeling something similar, go to Possibilities. They made an enormous difference to my life and they can do the same for you.

My relationship with my partner has vastly improved. We’re more able to communicate and we’re spending more time together and having fun! I can’t believe we were on the verge of separating when we contacted Possibilities as a last resort. I can’t thank them enough.
